POLARIS is a room-temperature hyperpolarizer that amplifies MRI-visible metabolic signals for preclinical research systems.
POLARIS combines room-temperature operation with on-site preparation of metabolic imaging agents. Its compact laboratory configuration and ready-to-use consumables support integration with existing preclinical MRI workflows, including hyperpolarized pyruvate studies in rodents.
NVision specifies throughput of up to three doses per hour and provides training, maintenance, and acquisition support. These features give research teams a defined instrument-and-consumables workflow for repeated metabolic measurements alongside standard MRI equipment.
POLARIS is currently supplied for preclinical research, while an investigational clinical system remains in development. Hyperpolarized imaging agents have not received approval for routine clinical application, limiting the current offering’s use as a routine patient-care platform.
The workflow requires preparation of a precursor, laboratory polarization, injection, and MRI measurement. Researchers also need consumables and an MRI setup; the polarizer supplies the imaging agent rather than replacing the scanner or the surrounding experimental workflow.
NVision launched POLARIS Preclinical on January 30, 2025 as an automated laboratory tool for producing hyperpolarized metabolic imaging agents. Its launch announcement described on-site production and integration with existing MRI scanners for preclinical treatment-response research.
The following February, NVision reported cardiac and renal metabolism research after installation at the Technical University of Munich. Subsequent announcements describe deployments at Memorial Sloan Kettering, Cambridge, and Hokkaido University, extending the product’s research use across multiple institutions.
POLARIS prepares hyperpolarized carbon-13 pyruvate for preclinical metabolic MRI experiments. Researchers prepare the precursor, polarize it in the laboratory, and inject the resulting agent before measuring metabolism with a standard MRI scanner.
The laboratory offering combines a room-temperature polarizer with precursor kits, catalyst, parahydrogen cylinders, and support services. NVision specifies up to three doses per hour and offers training, maintenance, and assistance with image acquisition and analysis.
