NXTV provided IP-based, fully digital in-room entertainment systems for hotels, delivering high-definition video on demand, free-to-guest IPTV content, wired and wireless high-speed Internet access, and a customized guest interface. Its platform ran over the hotel’s existing converged IP network, letting a property serve many in-room technologies without installing and maintaining separate networks for each application.
NXTV installed the first IPTV system in a U.S. hotel in 1999 and was one of the first providers to introduce IPTV services to the U.S. hospitality market. Its interactive television system delivered digital video on demand with recorder-style controls, high-speed Internet connectivity for TV and laptop, interactive video games, e-mail messaging, branded hotel portal services, and satellite TV programming. It served four- and five-star hotels and their guests.
