Light-switchable medical adhesive that releases on demand under a specific wavelength of light to reduce painful bandage removal.
AuraPeel is a light-switchable adhesive platform developed by PolyLux for medical bandages, where the adhesive loses roughly half of its strength when exposed to a specific wavelength of light already used in other medical applications.
The technology targets medical adhesive related skin injuries and large wound dressings such as negative pressure wound therapy, and was spun out of University of Akron polymer research under an NSF SBIR program led by founder Kaushik Mishra.
