Terran R is a two-stage, reusable medium-to-heavy-lift launch vehicle developed by Relativity Space for satellite constellations and interplanetary missions.
Terran R is designed to deliver up to 23,500 kg to low-Earth orbit with downrange landing, or 33,500 kg in an expendable configuration. The rocket is powered by 13 Aeon R engines on the first stage and one Aeon V vacuum engine on the second stage, using liquid oxygen and methane propellants. Relativity Space is targeting a first flight from Launch Complex 16 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in late 2026 and has reported more than $3 billion in launch service agreements for the vehicle.
The company has also selected Terran R to carry its first Interplanetary Sciences Program mission, a Mars science orbiter planned for 2028, and was added to NASA's Launch Services II contract in 2026.
