The AI Scientist is a fully automated pipeline for scientific discovery built by Sakana AI. Given a research direction and a starting codebase, it generates novel ideas, implements experiments, produces figures, writes a manuscript, and generates an automated peer review.
The system can run in an open-ended loop, using prior results and feedback to improve future ideas, and has demonstrated generated papers in areas such as diffusion modeling, language modeling, and grokking.
