Waste Management System is Sensoneo's cloud platform for configuring, monitoring, and planning smart waste collection.
The platform combines sensor configuration, real-time fill monitoring, fill-level predictions, pickup recognition, and route planning in one system, with a digital bin inventory that records capacity, waste type, GPS location, and collection schedule for every monitored bin. Sensoneo states the software is available in more than 10 languages and connects to existing information systems through an API, and its analytics module ships Power BI reporting on collections, measurements, average fill rates, diversion rates, and collection frequencies.
Deployments run at national scale: Sensoneo contributes to a smart waste installation of 11,100 sensors in Madrid, which the company describes as the largest such installation worldwide, and it operates deposit return IT systems in nine countries with recycling performance the company reports as exceeding 90 percent. Both figures position the platform as operating infrastructure behind large municipal and national programs rather than a small-pilot tool.
The Waste Management System originated as the software counterpart to Sensoneo's ultrasonic fill-level sensors. An European Commission Transition Pathways case study states the company's offering began with ultrasonic fill-level sensors combined with a cloud-based Waste Management System, before the portfolio broadened into route planning, bin access management, factory waste management, take-back systems, and nationwide deposit return IT systems.
The platform has since become the data layer across Sensoneo's deployment footprint, receiving real-time fill-level data from sensors and feeding route planning, the driver navigation app, and the citizen app. Sensoneo's LinkedIn showcase page for its waste monitoring solution describes the system running on Microsoft Azure with features spanning detailed bin inventory, an interactive map, sensor configuration, live data display, fill-level predictions, and alarm notifications.
European regulatory pressure is expanding demand for demand-based waste collection software. Since 1 January 2025, EU Member States must collect textiles separately for reuse and recycling, which the European Commission Transition Pathways platform states increases the volumes collection operators must manage and pushes them toward monitoring technology that services bins according to actual fill levels rather than fixed schedules.
Sensoneo positions the Waste Management System as the software layer for such dynamic collection: textile collectors in Central and Eastern Europe, including Ekocharita in Slovakia with around 1,300 bins and TexCycle in Bulgaria with more than 400 sensors across over 15 cities, transmit fill-level data into the platform for route planning and citizen-facing information. The Transition Pathways analysis reports customers reducing route duration and kilometres travelled by between 30 and 60 percent, indicating the efficiency gains driving adoption.
Waste Management System (WMS) is Sensoneo's cloud-based smart waste management platform for configuring, monitoring, and planning everyday waste collection. Its digital bin inventory shows each monitored bin and stand on an interactive map with capacity, waste type, last measurement, GPS location, and collection schedule, and the platform integrates with customers' existing information systems via API.
The platform monitors real-time fill levels for bins fitted with Sensoneo's ultrasonic sensors, predicts when bins will reach capacity from historical data, and recognizes pickups so operators can spot inefficient collections. It semi-automates collection route planning, supports itinerary comparisons between planned and executed routes, and ships an analytics module with Power BI reporting on collections, measurements, average fill rates, diversion rates, and collection frequencies.
