Sphere Secure Workspace developed an enterprise mobility management solution for iOS and Android that placed work content inside a secure virtual container on an employee's personal device, letting staff access corporate applications through a single login while keeping personal data separate. The London-based company entered the Y Combinator Summer 2015 batch and was founded in 2014 by Kubi Mensah and Dominik Thalmann.
In a bring-your-own-device workplace, the container approach let IT departments remove only the work container when an employee left or lost a device, leaving the person's personal content intact. OneLogin acquired Sphere Secure Workspace on November 9, 2016 to add lightweight mobile device management to its cloud identity and access management platform, distinguishing the offering from traditional mobile device management vendors such as MobileIron and VMware AirWatch.
