Seattle-area startups raise a record $3.5 billion in venture capital in the third quarter, led by Stoke Space, Temporal and Helion. Starcloud plans to send its SC-1L AI data-processing payload to lunar orbit aboard Firefly Aerospace’s Elytra vehicle on a NASA-supported mission scheduled no earlier than 2028. After Firefly’s Blue Ghost lander separates, SC-1L will process data from Elytra’s Solux vision system and transmit the results to Earth, demonstrating technology for orbital AI data centers. Starcloud says its earlier Starcloud-1 satellite, equipped with an Nvidia H100 chip, successfully trained NanoGPT in low Earth orbit.
