Taylor Devices Fluid Viscous Dampers are velocity-dependent hydraulic devices that absorb earthquake and wind energy in buildings and bridges. Installed in diagonal, chevron, or toggle-brace configurations, they raise structural damping and reduce drift, stress, and acceleration without adding stiffness.
The dampers use stainless piston rods, proprietary seals, and silicone fluid for maintenance-free operation across wide temperatures. Force ratings reach two million pounds with strokes to plus-or-minus 42 inches, and each structural unit is dynamically tested before shipment.
