The concept of teleexistence was introduced by Susumu Tachi, honorary professor at the University of Tokyo and chairman of TELEXISTENCE株式会社, in 1980. It envisions a technology system enabling humans to engage in unlimited activities across infinite spaces without geographical constraints.
“TELEXISTENCE” was first proposed in 1980 by Dr. Susumu Tachi, Professor Emeritus of the University of Tokyo and the chairman of TELEXISTENCE Inc. It is a technological vision, concept, and the system that expands the presence of human beings.
TELEXISTENCE recruits top talent in robotics, software, and artificial intelligence.
From robotics to software to artificial intelligence, TELEXISTENCE Inc. is looking for the top talent on the planet.
Susumu Tachi is Professor Emeritus of The University of Tokyo, where he currently leads several research projects on telexistence, virtual reality and haptics, including the ACCEL Embodied Media Project at Tachi Laboratory, Institute of Gerontology.
Hiroshi Ishiguro is a full university professor of computer science and robotics at Carnegie Mellon University, a special professor at Kyoto University’s Institute for Advanced Study, and a senior advisor at the Center for Innovative Intelligence Integration (RIKEN). He earned his doctorate in electrical engineering from Kyoto University in 1974 and later taught there before moving to Carnegie Mellon University in 1980. He served as director of the Robotics Institute from 1992 to 2001 and as director of the Quality of Life Technology Center from 2006 to 2012. From 2001 to 2010, he also led the Digital Human Research Center at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology.
TELEXISTENCE Inc. aims to be the systematic innovator of scale in robotics. Innovator means new stuff. And scale means big, systematic ways of looking things done in a way that’s reproducible.
