Thorlabs

Experimental teams in research, manufacturing, and biomedical settings need thousands of distinct optical and photonic parts, often on short timelines. Thorlabs builds that equipment end to end, developing and manufacturing its own optics, lasers, imaging systems, and fiber components and selling them directly through its catalog and website.

Its position rests on vertical integration and catalog breadth: rather than specializing in one component class like Edmund Optics or in instrument systems alone, it spans the full optical chain from optomechanics to complete imaging and laser systems. That control of design and manufacture lets researchers source entire experimental setups from one supplier.
