DDO assesses operational performance in an area of a healthcare institution using Lean tools, on-site observations, and staff interviews. It also maps processes, analyzes data, and defines indicators.

Lean projects use the Lean methodology to identify and reduce waste, focusing on the experience of patients and professionals. Projects can be carried out in any area or service of healthcare institutions.
