Vaxon Space is developing the **VLEO Bus**, a satellite platform for **Very Low Earth Orbit (180–250 km)**, where conventional spacecraft struggle with atmospheric drag and atomic oxygen damage. The system integrates **air-breathing electric propulsion (ABEP)**, an **atomic-oxygen-resistant airframe**, and **deployable solar arrays** to sustain operations in this challenging band. The design targets persistent low-altitude missions by mitigating drag through innovative propulsion and structural adaptations.
The ISS National Laboratory has chosen a group of startups to participate in the 2026 Orbital Edge Accelerator program. The initiative supports early-stage companies developing technologies for space-based applications and low-Earth orbit utilization. Selected firms will receive resources to advance projects leveraging the ISS as a testbed for innovation.
The International Space Station (ISS) National Laboratory has chosen eight early-stage startups for its 2026 Orbital Edge Accelerator program. These companies will participate in two distinct accelerator tracks aimed at advancing space-based research and commercialization. The selected firms will receive mentorship, resources, and access to ISS National Lab’s facilities to develop technologies for space applications.
