Vertical Semiconductor is a semiconductor company spun out of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology that develops vertical gallium nitride power transistors. The devices are built on roughly a decade of gallium nitride research in MIT's Palacios Group and have been demonstrated on 8-inch wafers using standard silicon CMOS manufacturing methods.

The company targets high-voltage power conversion for AI data centers and grid infrastructure, where it aims to reduce energy loss and heat while shrinking the footprint of power systems. Its transistors are designed for 100-volt to 1.2-kilovolt applications in high-voltage direct-current power architectures.
