Zing Robotics, Inc. was a California robotics company that built the eGSE, an all-electric, software-defined Level 4 autonomous ground support equipment platform for airport tarmac operations. The vehicle carried a machine vision system integrating camera, lidar, radar, sonar, GPS and inertial sensing, a ruggedised fail-safe compute module, and a 4,500-pound cargo capacity with a 30-inch loading height, and its programmable design let a single vehicle replace several mission-specific ground support vehicles.
The company targeted airlines and cargo carriers, where removing human operators from ground service equipment reduced hourly operating costs and improved ramp safety. Its leadership included chief executive officer Brent Shedd, chief technology officer Dante Zeviar and chief product officer Yao Zhai, and the platform appeared in Arm developer materials on software-defined autonomous vehicles before the company's website was taken offline.
