Spain's public venture co-investment program for technology-based innovative companies.
INNVIERTE combines direct investment in technology-based companies with indirect commitments to venture-capital funds, giving the program separate channels for company-level rounds and investment vehicles.
The program's investment policy focuses on innovative and technology-oriented businesses, particularly small and medium-sized companies, while its fund investments can support specialized managers. This structure lets the public program participate across company stages and technology-transfer pathways through distinct investment procedures.
The direct co-investment route currently states that proposals for new companies are paused until further notice. Private investors may still seek homologation, but the route for submitting a new company investment is not presently open according to the program page.
The investment model also depends on approved private co-investors and selected fund managers, so access is tied to program procedures and counterpart eligibility rather than an unrestricted application pathway. The official program materials describe these conditions as part of the investment process.
INNVIERTE began in 2012 with co-investment agreements in energy and the environment. The program later expanded its investment routes: a professional-investor co-investment initiative began in 2019, and technology-transfer funds were supported in 2021.
A strategic-company co-investment initiative launched in 2022, followed by the reactivation and redesign of the fund-of-funds line in 2024. In 2025, CDTI and the European Investment Fund opened Deep Start to back technology-transfer and deep-tech funds in Spain.
INNVIERTE is a CDTI-managed public venture-capital program for technology-based and innovative companies, with a general focus on Spanish businesses. It backs direct equity investment alongside private co-investors and indirect investment through selected venture-capital funds.
Its investment mandate supports company creation, growth and technology transfer. Separate program routes address direct investments and commitments to investment vehicles, with applications and fund selections handled through program-specific procedures.
