The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee is China's patriotic united front organization and an important institution of multiparty cooperation and political consultation led by the Communist Party of China. Its units span the CPC, eight democratic parties, non-affiliated personages, major mass organizations, ethnic and religious representatives, and compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan.
The National Committee conducts political consultation before policy decisions are made, exercises democratic supervision, and participates in the deliberation of state affairs, complementing the National People's Congress, which votes on decisions after those consultations. Its specialized committees include the Economic Committee.
