Both nonprofit organizations with staff and those that are all‐volunteer periodically face the issue of reorganizing their human resources to adjust to new challenges and increase effectiveness. This document outlines considerations to make when hiring a staff person or contractor.
Natalie joins us from the Southern District of New York where she was an Assistant U.S. Attorney. Supporting our Treasured Landscapes work in Washington State, Natalie is the NFF’s Volunteer and Community Engagement Coordinator for the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. We’re excited to have Natalie on board and working to connect Washington communities to their incredible backyard forests.
One of the ways the Forest Service communicates with the visiting public about the resources and opportunities on the Forest is through informational kiosks. Kiosks are critical infrastructure to supply information to visitors about recreation sites, trails, roads, fire restrictions, camping, and much more.
Sometimes it helps to put things into perspective. Our National Forest System is vast, full of incredible places and memorable vistas. We took a few facts about our about these public lands and compared them to a few familiar places.
In celebration of Earth Day, Boxed Water Is Better and the National Forest Foundation (NFF) announce the return of ReTree, a partnership between the two organizations aiming to plant more than 200,000 trees in 2016.

The National Forest Foundation (NFF) announced today that it submitted an innovative carbon offset methodology to the American Carbon Registry for approval. Once approved, the proposed methodology will allow for the generation of verified carbon offsets from forest restoration projects on National Forest lands in the southwestern U.S.
