AI slop company wants to open 5,000 wellness spas. It's starting in Union Square

Midjourney, best known for AI imagery, revealed a new health division called Midjourney Medical. It leased 23,000 sq ft across four floors at 300 Grant Avenue in Union Square for a wellness center mixing spa amenities with full-body ultrasound scanners. The facility will include roughly ten scanners plus saunas, hot tubs, and cold plunges. Users must fully submerge in water for the 60-second radiation-free scan, which the firm claims uses just sound and water and 60 seconds. The spa is scheduled to open late 2027 and run around the clock. The scans are not yet FDA-approved, and pricing was not disclosed. Leaders plan to install 50,000 machines worldwide over six years, needing about 5,000 locations and 20 billion dollars; the target is one billion scans per year.
