Metaview wants to eliminate recruiting grunt work and speed up hiring after raising $60M

Metaview wants to eliminate recruiting grunt work and speed up hiring after raising $60M

Artificial intelligence recruiting software startup Metaview Labs Inc. said today the industry is ready for a “Claude Code moment” after it closed on $60 million in a Series C funding.

The round was led by Insight Partners and saw the participation of GV, Seedcamp, Vertex Ventures US, Intrepid Growth Partners, Plural and Garuda Ventures. To date, the company has now raised $110 million in total.

Although Metaview is hitching on the agentic AI wagon, it’s actually pretty old as far as AI startups go. It was founded back in 2018 by former Uber Technologies Inc. and Palantir Technologies Inc. employees Siadhal Magos and Shahriar Tajbakhsh, who serve as its chief executive and chief technology officer, respectively.

In a blog post, Magos said that the role of software engineers has evolved from writing code to orchestrating AI agents that do the grunt work for them, and now he predicts that recruiters are going to follow the same path. His startup has developed AI agents that automate much of the recruitment process, from creating the initial job ads to sourcing and screening candidates, reviewing their resumes and application letters, and then conducting initial interviews.

According to Magos, Metaview’s agents have already conducted more than 6 million interviews so far. Once a candidate’s interview is complete, the agents will transform their responses into usable notes for human reviewers to look through, so they can create a shortlist for in-person interviews. The interview questions themselves and the job qualification criteria are all set by humans first, he added.

There’s an urgent need for automated recruitment, Magos believes. He points out that recruiting is “hard, laborious work” and that there’s minimal technology used in the process. Many companies will scale their recruitment teams during hiring spikes, only to dismantle them when they’re no longer needed, but that’s “expensive, ineffective and painful for all involved,” he said.

The current state of the economy adds to the urgency for automation. More people are looking for work, and “applications per recruiter have increased 412%,” Magos explained. “So recruiters spend their days processing massive application queues, searching profiles, writing outreach, scheduling screens, chasing interview feedback and shuttling information between systems.”

Metaview’s AI agents can automate all of that work, and that’s why more than 7,000 companies are already using them, Magos said. Its highest-profile customers include enterprises such as Deel, Affirm and Replit Inc., which have managed to reduce their average time-to-hire by more than 75%.

In addition to today’s funding, Metaview is adding more capabilities to its agentic recruiting platform. The most notable is fillmore, an autonomous recruiting agent that’s able to research prospective job candidates, construct target lists, generate personalized emails for outreach, manage follow-up conversations and schedule meetings with those who are interested. It’s generally available today and operates entirely within Slack.

By using fillmore to automate this work, “recruiting becomes always-on, while people stay in control of the decisions that matter,” Magos argued.

Metaview is now in growth mode and it has three major priorities. The first is to expand its platform with even more agents that specialize in various aspects of the recruiting process. The second is the opening of its new office in New York City and the expansion of its teams, which currently number around 80 people.

Magos said the company plans to have more than 250 staff on its books by the end of next year, and is hiring for roles such as engineering, product, design and go-to-market. Presumably, its own agents will help to automate much of that process.

Last but not least, Metaview wants to expand its 10x Recruiting program, which offers training in AI for human recruiters. “The shift to agentic recruiting requires a new skill set, not just new software,” Magos said. “The best teams of the next decade will be built by people who know how to use these tools well.”
