The unprecedented impact and scale of COVID-19 has pushed the healthcare and medical technology communities to new operational levels. From technology industry leaders to agile start-ups, the global community has answered the call for introduction of innovative solutions with faster time-to-market and more rapid point-of-care testing. Microtechnology-enabled solutions, in particular, have been instrumental in the battle against COVID-19 - from wearable sensors to microfluidic technologies.
Day 1 - Power Electronics and Devices Day Empowering Electrification in the New Digital World
SEMI has made history through innovation, witnessing five decades of technological change. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the launch of SEMI International Standards in 1973, and SEMI Taiwan has also been involved in standards development for more than 23 years. More than 1,100 SEMI International Standards have been established to date, covering industries from semiconductors to FPD, PV, LED, PCB, and FHE. SEMI International Standards are at the heart of innovation in electronics manufacturing, with the hope of bringing more benefits to society and everyday life.
At SEMI Business Update, experts from a wide range of fields—including market trends, the latest technologies, and advocacy—are invited to explore topics in depth. With the emergence of next-generation air mobility, including drones and flying cars, the possibilities for using the skies are expanding. The eighth session, titled “Explaining the Latest Trends in Next-Generation Air Mobility,” will feature a director from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry explaining challenges to creating a future that is “safe, secure, and exciting,” such as transporting goods between hubs by drone and moving people by flying car. Economic reporter Kiyo Osato will facilitate the session. Please note that the program is subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. Event overview: New concepts such as the “metaverse” and “Web 3.0” are emerging, and interest in them is growing rapidly in the manufacturing sector. The fifth SEMI Business Update session, titled “How the Metaverse Is Changing the World,” will feature experts explaining how the business environment may change through the metaverse, omniverse, and digital twins. First, Naoki Asakawa, editor-in-chief of Nikkei Computer at Nikkei BP, will speak on “The Metaverse and Digital Twins: Understanding Their True Potential.” He will discuss the metaverse, which major companies such as Meta, Sony, Microsoft, and NVIDIA are investing in at an accelerating pace, including whether it could become a new communication tool to replace social media, create new entertainment businesses, or boost productivity in remote work. He will also cover the latest developments in the technologies that make up the metaverse, including VR/AR headsets, motion capture, volumetric capture, and digital twins.
Top analysts in devices, equipment, and materials come together! They will examine and boldly forecast the market amid rapidly growing DX/GX demand and factors such as COVID-19 and the Ukraine crisis.
