To find who invested in a startup, open its company profile on aVenture and go to the Fundraising tab. The Investors table lists every firm and person on record, with the rounds each one joined. Click an investor to open its own profile and see what else it has backed.
The website comes first, then the same lookup from the command line, the API, and AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT.
Find a startup's investors on the website
- Search for the company by name or website at aventure.vc.
- Open its profile and select Fundraising. For example, Stripe's Fundraising tab.
- Read the Investors table. Each row shows the investor's name, location, links, type (firm or person), employee count, and the rounds it took part in.
- Read the Funding History table above it to see each round's date, amount raised, total raised to date, and how many investors joined.
The free Essential plan includes 25 company profile views a month, which is enough to check a handful of companies.
See what else an investor has backed
Every investment firm and fund has its own profile. From a startup's Investors table, click the firm name, then open Portfolio. For example, Sequoia Capital's portfolio. This shows which other companies in the same market the firm already holds.
Find the lead investor of a round
The API and CLI mark the lead investor of each round with a leadInvestor flag. Ask for the investors in one round, and the lead investors are the rows where the flag is true. The website's Investors table does not show the lead flag yet.
Look up investors from the command line
Install the CLI and sign in:
npm install --global @aventurevc/aventure-cli
aventure auth login
Find the company, list its rounds, then list the investors in one round:
aventure entities lookup-exact get --url https://stripe.com
aventure entities fundraise-rounds list --entity-id <company-id> --sort dateAnnounced,desc
aventure entities fundraise-investor-joins list --entity-id <company-id> --transaction-id <round-id>
Investor rows identify each backer by entityId (a firm) or personId (an angel). Pass those ids to aventure entities list --entity-id <id> <id> to get their names. To list every backer of a company at once, call GET /v1/entities/{entityId}/investors. The use-case recipes show complete examples.
Funding round, investor, and portfolio reads do not use a profile view.
Ask an AI assistant
Connect aVenture to Claude, ChatGPT, or another assistant through the hosted MCP server at https://mcp.aventure.vc/mcp. The MCP quickstart has the steps for each app. Then ask in plain English:
- "Who invested in Ramp's most recent round on aVenture, and who led it?"
- "List Stripe's investors on aVenture and group them by round."
- "Which other fintech companies has Ramp's lead investor backed?"
The assistant reads the same rounds and investor records as the website.
Read investor data carefully
- A round's amount is the round total. Use
amountInvestedon the investor row when it is present. - Round labels can repeat, for example two Series B extensions. Use the round's date and id to tell them apart.
- A missing amount means the round size was not disclosed. Do not count it as zero.
