To look up a startup's funding history, open its profile on aVenture and select the Fundraising tab. The Funding History table lists each round with its date, amount raised, running total, and number of investors. Totals, the most recent deal, and valuation appear above the table.
The sections below explain each number, show the same lookup in a terminal or an AI assistant, and list what to check when you compare rounds.
Read the funding history on the website
- Find the company at aventure.vc by name or by its website address.
- Open Fundraising. For example, Stripe's funding history.
- Use the summary at the top for total raised, the most recent deal, and valuation.
- Use the Funding History table for the round-by-round record: round name, month and year, amount raised, raised to date, and investor count.
- Open the Investors table below it to see who joined each round.
What each funding round includes
Through the CLI, API, and MCP server, each round returns more detail than the table shows:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
round |
Round type, such as Seed or Series B |
amountRaised, currency |
Size of the whole round, in the currency it was raised in |
dateAnnounced, dateFundingComplete |
When the round was announced and when it closed |
investorCount |
How many investors joined |
valuationPreMoney, valuationPostMoney |
Valuation, when it was disclosed |
publicSource |
A link to the announcement and its publish date |
For example, Stripe's Series I on March 15, 2023 raised $6.5 billion from 10 investors.
Get funding history from the command line or API
npm install --global @aventurevc/aventure-cli
aventure auth login
aventure entities lookup-exact get --url https://stripe.com
aventure entities fundraise-rounds list --entity-id <company-id> --sort dateAnnounced,desc
The API call is GET /v1/entities/{id}/fundraise-rounds?sort=dateAnnounced,desc. Funding round reads do not use one of your monthly profile views. The API quickstart covers keys and requests, and the use-case recipes show a full funding-history example.
On the free Essential plan, look companies up by website as shown above, or by name up to 20 times a day. Search by description needs AI Plus or AI Pro.
Ask an AI assistant
After you connect aVenture to Claude or ChatGPT through https://mcp.aventure.vc/mcp (setup steps), ask:
- "Look up Stripe on aVenture and summarize its funding history."
- "How much has Ramp raised in total, and what was its last valuation?"
- "Compare the funding histories of Ramp and Brex by round."
Compare rounds correctly
- Amounts stay in each round's own currency. Convert before adding rounds raised in different currencies.
- A blank amount means the round size was not disclosed. Do not count it as zero.
- Round names can repeat when a company extends a round. Use dates to order them.
- Raised To-Date is a running total of disclosed amounts only.
