Single-use suction cervical retractor that replaces tenaculum forceps for transcervical gynecological procedures.
Currently Offered
The Cervical Suction Retractor is a single-use gynecological instrument that stabilizes the cervix with gentle 360-degree suction during transcervical procedures, including intrauterine device insertion, endometrial biopsy, and fertility procedures. It serves as a non-traumatic replacement for piercing tenaculum forceps and works with instruments from various manufacturers.
The device holds FDA 510(k) clearance under the name Bioceptive Suction Cervical Retractor, and a pilot feasibility trial published in BMJ Sexual & Reproductive Health reported lower attachment pain scores than a single-tooth tenaculum. Bioceptive and Trimedic announced a letter of intent in January 2025 to form a joint venture to enhance, manufacture, and commercialize the device in Canada and the United States.
