Campotec grows and packs Portuguese fruit and potatoes and sells ready-to-eat fresh-cut salads to national retailers and European buyers.
Campotec draws its fruit from an IGP and DOP production zone that runs from Leiria to Mafra, growing Pêra Rocha, Maçã de Alcobaça and organic fruit. Its organic Pêra Rocha comes from western orchards and its organic apple from a precision-agriculture orchard south of Alcácer do Sal.
The entire production area operates under Integrated Production, with most growers certified to GlobalG.A.P. and the GRASP labour module. Pest control relies mainly on biotechnical methods such as mating disruption and mass trapping, and Campotec pioneered low-volume spraying in the region to keep residues low.

Campotec sells a large share of its output through the biggest Portuguese grocery chains, whose high and still-increasing concentration gives them strong bargaining power over the business. The group sets out channel diversification and faster internationalisation as its response.
To reduce that exposure the group is widening its distribution channels, reinforcing its position in the markets where it already operates, and streamlining layouts, processes and production technology. It also specialises functions within the group and shares resources such as management, research and the cold chain.

Campotec differentiates its potatoes by culinary typology rather than skin colour, selecting and segregating varieties suited to frying, boiling or baking and evaluating each batch received for the required aptitude. Its varieties divide roughly 45% white-skinned and 55% red-skinned.
The branded potato lines are Chérie®, introduced in 2009 after production began on 160 hectares in the Ribatejo, and Princesa Amandine®, sold through Sonae, Auchan, Pingo Doce, Aldi and Intermarché. Because the packing lines handle more potato than its fields grow, Campotec imports from France and Spain outside the Portuguese season and exports about four million kilograms a year to France, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium.
