Comet ML, Inc. builds infrastructure that engineering and data-science teams use to develop, evaluate, and improve machine learning and AI applications. Its flagship product, Opik, is an open-source observability and evaluation platform for large language model applications and agentic systems, providing tracing, LLM-as-a-judge evaluation metrics, production monitoring, and cost tracking for coding agents. Comet also operates an MLOps platform that covers experiment management, a model registry, artifact storage, and production model monitoring.
Opik is released as open source, so developers can run it locally and inspect or extend it, while Comet offers a managed cloud service for teams that prefer hosted observability and evaluation. In 2021 the company acquired Stakion, a model production monitoring company, and used its technology to launch Comet Model Production Monitoring, a capability for detecting breaking changes and concept drift in deployed machine learning models.
