Cristália's portfolio covers prescription medicines across anesthesia, mental health, pain, therapeutic dermatology, oncology, and endocrinology, complemented by biological inputs produced through its biotechnology operations. The company markets around 350 medicines in roughly 500 presentations.
Its flagship anesthetics line is the largest in Latin America, manufacturing the world's four most-consumed inhaled anesthetics, and it operates Latin America's first high-potency oncology active-ingredient plant as well as Brazil's first private anaerobic biotechnology facility.
Cristália is one of Brazil's largest pharmaceutical industrial complexes: founded in Itapira (SP) in 1972 with 100% national capital, it is Latin America's largest anesthetics producer, holds 131 patents, sells 350 medicines in about 500 presentations, and exports to 30+ countries. While Brazilian industry imports about 90% of active pharmaceutical ingredients, Cristália produces 60% of its own APIs, and an August 2026 Valor Econômico ranking placed it among Brazil's five most innovative pharma companies.
Family-owned control underpins a long-horizon strategy: founder Ogari Pacheco chairs the board and passed the executive presidency to his son Ricardo Pacheco, sustaining R&D near 8% of revenue. After a R$1 billion expansion pledge at its 50th anniversary, Cristália opened a R$300 million oral-solids plant in Montes Claros (MG) in 2025 plus a R$350 million biotech unit, and in August 2026 incorporated a former Takeda plant in Jaguariúna (SP), its 11th plant, deepening hospital anesthetics, oncology and biologics capacity.
Cristália is the largest anesthetics producer in Latin America, supplying 95% of Brazilian hospitals and manufacturing the world's four most-consumed inhaled anesthetics, a scale no other Brazilian-owned laboratory matches in that segment.
The company compounds this with vertical integration that few national competitors replicate: in-house active-ingredient synthesis since 1983, 131 patents, biotechnology plants including Brazil's first private anaerobic facility, and the region's first high-potency oncology API plant.
