The Custom.MT Console lets localization teams manage stock and custom machine translation and large language models in one workspace. Its Best Engine comparison feature benchmarks content across more than 30 engines while preserving tags so document markup survives translation.
Connectors link the platform to Trados, memoQ, Smartling, XTM, and Smartcat, alongside translation portals, a Shopware plugin, and automatic post-editing. Supporting capabilities include MT quality estimation, TMX cleaning, model fine-tuning, on-premises deployment, dataset acquisition, data anonymization, and training workshops.
Custom.MT operates as an engine-agnostic specialist independent of any translation company or engine vendor, so its engine recommendations carry no markup incentive. Its benchmarking credibility rests on more than 150 custom engines trained, with published results showing an average BLEU improvement of 33 percent and a best edit distance of 1.6 percent.
Membership in the Nvidia Inception program supports on-premises GPU training for customers with strict infrastructure requirements. Deployment options span virtual private cloud, on-premises installation, and PII tokenization, while provider usage is passed through at zero markup or powered entirely by customer-provided keys.
Custom.MT is a small team of roughly 11 to 50 people, competing against larger funded rivals with broader sales and development capacity. Its own published benchmarking showed that about half of training engagements produced no BLEU gain, an honest signal that custom engines do not pay off in every scenario.
The company orchestrates third-party engines rather than owning foundation models, leaving it dependent on external model providers. Its focus stays concentrated in the localization niche, which limits its applicability outside translation and multilingual content workflows.
Custom.MT sells layered monthly subscriptions with flat overages, updated as of January 30, 2026. The Starter tier costs €200 for 10 million characters per month, the Advanced tier €1,000 for 30 million, and the Compliance tier €2,500 for 50 million.
Unused character allowances do not roll over between billing periods. Alternatively, customers can supply their own provider keys and pay zero markup, with provider usage passed through at cost, while advanced security features are restricted to the Compliance tier.
