Meath-based Hexafly raises €1.1m in funding led by HBAN angels, bringing its total funding to €2.2m. The company uses black soldier flies to convert waste streams into feeds, fertilisers and bioplastics.
Hexafly founders Alvan Hunt and John Lynam use insects to convert waste materials into ingredients for animal feed. From the company’s facility in Meath, they target aquaculture and agriculture markets. The startup is betting on insects as a way to change food production.
