Modal runs Python functions and containers on serverless GPUs for online inference, batch jobs, training, and interactive sandboxes. Its runtime provisions GPU workers on demand and scales them to zero when idle, so customers pay only for compute seconds used.
Developers define workloads as ordinary Python code using Modal's SDK, and the platform handles scheduling, containerization, storage, and network routing. Modal supports multi-modal inference, custom model serving, and integration with popular frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, and TensorFlow.
