Natural Resource Partners is a diversified natural resource company that owns, manages and leases properties in the United States, including coal, industrial minerals and other natural resources, plus rights to conduct carbon sequestration and renewable energy activities. It leases acreage to extraction companies for royalties and fees rather than mining, drilling or producing minerals, and operates two segments, Mineral Rights and Soda Ash. Natural Resource Partners holds an interest in Sisecam Wyoming LLC, which operates a trona ore mine and a soda ash refinery.

Royalties generally represent a percentage of lessees’ gross revenue, and floor prices and minimum payment obligations typically protect revenue during significant price or demand declines. Sisecam Wyoming is one of the world’s largest and lowest-cost producers of natural soda ash; trona ore is processed into soda ash, an essential raw material in flat glass, container glass, detergents, chemicals and paper.
