PIQC is a quantum computing architecture using organic molecular qubits with native photonic interfaces on photonic integrated circuits.
PIQC, short for Photonic Integrated Quantum Circuits, is NVision's quantum computing platform built on carbene molecules engineered to act as molecular quantum nodes. Laser excitation drives single-photon emission from an optically active electron spin while a long-lived nuclear spin stores quantum information, giving each molecule an interface to photons that is intrinsic rather than added by hardware.
The company reports that the molecules can be deposited as thin organic films directly onto photonic chips, and describes demonstrated coherence of about two milliseconds at operating temperatures of 2-4 kelvin. NVision reports selection for Phase 1 of the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking Quantum Grand Challenge for a roadmap project called QOSMOS, and selection by the German Aerospace Center quantum computing initiative in 2024.
