Ibrance (palbociclib) is Pfizer's first-in-class oral CDK4/6 inhibitor for HR-positive breast cancer.
Ibrance is an oral small-molecule inhibitor of CDK4 and CDK6, the kinases that propel cell-cycle progression from G1 into S phase. It became the first CDK4/6 inhibitor to win U.S. approval in 2015 and is indicated for hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative advanced or metastatic breast cancer given alongside endocrine partners such as letrozole or fulvestrant.
As the category-defining CDK4/6 inhibitor, Ibrance established the current standard of care that newer CDK4-selective candidates now aim to improve upon, particularly by attempting to reduce the neutropenia that accompanies combined CDK4 and CDK6 blockade.
Adds products that compete with one of Ibrance’s direct competitors but not with Ibrance itself. They are shaded, and Linked Through names the direct competitor each one competes with.
