Survios is reportedly shutting down, with a majority of its staff laid off, according to LinkedIn posts from former Combat Designer Dylan Ralston and Senior Technical Sound Designer Tim Schumann. The studio’s catalog includes more than a dozen games released since 2013, including Raw Data, Sprint Vector, Creed, Westworld Awakening, The Walking Dead Onslaught, and Alien Rogue Incursion.
Survios’s VR shooter Alien: Rogue Incursion features motion-tracker stealth, pulse-rifle combat, and a synthetic companion named Davis 01. UploadVR’s hands-on preview with creative director TQ Jefferson describes embodiment and combat inspired by the third act of Aliens, and notes the game’s December 19 launch across PS VR2, PC VR, and Quest 3.
Survios secures a $16.7 million funding round led by Irongrey, bringing its total funding to $70.9 million. The round also includes Woori Technology Investment, KNET Venture Fund, Seoul Investment Partners, Samsung Next, Shasta Ventures, and Lux Capital. Under CEO Seth Gerson, the studio adds Mike Medrano, TQ Jefferson as chief product officer, and Tate Mosesian.
Survios raises $50 million across two funding rounds led by MGM and Lux Capital, with Shasta Ventures, Danhua Capital, Shanda Holdings, Felicis Ventures and Dentsu Ventures participating. MGM CEO Gary Barber joins Survios’ board as the studio’s game Raw Data records more than $1 million in Steam revenue during its launch month.
