UfarmX began with its own team farming 100 acres in Nigeria, where it discovered the smallholder credit gap firsthand. The company builds credit-risk scoring for African agriculture, drawing on geospatial and socioeconomic data to assess a farmer's credit risk, and it pairs that scoring with farmer credit platforms through which retailers, banks, and institutions can extend credit.

Its focus is enabling collateral-free credit rather than lending itself: UfarmX equips banks, financial institutions, and retailers to lend safely to smallholder farmers, with the farmer's data standing in for collateral. Its AI credit scoring API lets banks and financial institutions underwrite farmer loans in real time. It operates in Nigeria, Senegal, Liberia, and Kenya, with Nigeria its flagship market.
