Finnish full-service EV charging platform provider for network management, charging business, and energy services.
Helen and E.ON became majority shareholders of Liikennevirta Oy in December 2018 through directed share issues and share transactions. Jolt Capital led a EUR 30 million round in April 2021 with Tesi and Vertex Growth after a first closing with ENEOS in April 2020, and in 2023 Virta closed EUR 65 million in equity funding alongside a EUR 20 million Business Finland grant.
Virta acquired Swedish EV fleet-management leader Northe in August 2025. The leadership team spans CEO Juhani Hintikka, CFO Tom Jansson, CPTO Perttu Nihti, COO Mauro Carobene, CRO Ilkka Vanhanen, CLO Lasse Holopainen, and Chief People and Culture Officer Nina Ariluoma, and the company employs more than 250 people across Helsinki, Berlin, Stockholm, Paris, London, Singapore, and Bucharest.
Virta Hub, the company's charge point management system (CPMS), is the flagship offering, with modules for AI and automations, insights and reports, tariff management, energy management, APIs and integrations, payments and invoicing, roaming, EV driver services, and integrated charging stations.
The platform serves over 1,000 private and public companies and organisations in retail, hotel, real estate, parking, petrol retail, automotive, and energy, which operate more than 120,000 chargers in 35 countries under the Connected to Virta network; roaming extends driver access to over 800,000 charging points in more than 65 countries. Since August 2025, Northe fleet services for home, workplace, and public charging plus mileage reporting have been part of the offering.
Fleet electrification is the main growth driver, with company-registered vehicles accounting for around 60% of new EV sales in the EU, making fleets the fastest-growing e-mobility segment. In August 2026 Northe opened access to more than 20,000 Tesla Superchargers across 12 European markets to its fleet customers, widening the combined platform's public-charging reach.
In September 2026 Virta opened a grid-flexibility revenue stream that pays charge point operators in France and the United Kingdom for modulating charging when the grid is under stress. The Voltalis partnership aims to build frameworks for EV participation in wholesale and balancing energy markets, and Nordic frequency-containment markets already use Virta-managed flexibility.
Virta holds 34 patent families concentrated on energy management and has been ranked on the Financial Times FT 1000 list of Europe's fastest-growing companies for five consecutive years through 2024. After acquiring Northe, the combined company became the largest B2B EV driver platform in the Nordics, serving well over 100,000 active EV drivers.
Its technology already ran E.ON's European charging network at significant scale in 2018, and the Virta backend now powers E.ON Drive's Dynamic Charge offering. The platform passed 100 million cumulative charging events in April 2026, and Virta-managed charging flexibility already participates in Nordic frequency-containment and capacity-reserve markets.
The charge point management and fleet-charging field is crowded with well-funded rivals including Monta, AMPECO, GreenFlux, IONITY, and Kempower, several of which compete on price or vertical integration. Virta does not own charging hardware, so its go-to-market depends on partnerships with energy, automotive, and charging-equipment companies rather than a captive device base.
Its newer grid-flexibility and vehicle-to-grid offerings are still early: coverage of the Voltalis partnership noted that details and V2G scope remained unclear at announcement, so execution risk sits in converting pilot projects into regulated wholesale and balancing-market revenue across multiple countries.
