The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is a multilateral development bank that finances projects and advances policy reform in economies committed to open-market principles. It provides loans, equity investments and trade guarantees to private companies, financial institutions and public authorities, generally ranging from US$5 million to US$250 million per private-sector project, and combines financing with business advice and donor-funded technical cooperation.
Owned by 77 countries together with the European Union and the European Investment Bank, the Bank works in more than 40 economies across Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa, with a mandate to support well-run and sustainable private sectors. Its current strategy prioritises the green transition, economic governance and human capital, and it has invested more than €220 billion in over 7,800 projects since opening for business.
