Methanex›Methanex› offers Geismar 3

Geismar 3, known as G3, is a 1.8 million tonne per year methanol plant at Methanex's Geismar, Louisiana complex that produced first methanol in July 2024. Built around autothermal reforming technology, the plant has one of the lowest emission intensity profiles in the methanol industry and significantly expands Methanex's North American production capacity.

The plant strengthens Methanex's supply to chemical, industrial, and marine fuel customers from the US Gulf Coast, where rail, barge, and marine logistics connect production to domestic and export markets. As a large-scale, lower-emission methanol source brought online in the mid-2020s, Geismar 3 competes directly with new low-carbon methanol projects targeting the same Gulf Coast and global buyers.
