Mistral Small Language Models are a family of compact, high-performance language models developed by Mistral AI, including Mistral 7B, Mixtral 8x7B (a sparse mixture-of-experts model), Mistral Small 3 (22B), and a family of fine-tuned instruct and code variants. The models target on-premise and edge deployment, multilingual use cases, and enterprise workloads where inference cost or latency is a binding constraint.

Mistral ships the family under the Apache 2.0 license for research and a commercial license for production, with the Le Platforme hosted API and La Plateforme enterprise offering for managed deployment. The Mistral Small tier directly overlaps with Fastino TLM use cases including classification, summarization, and structured extraction, but is general-purpose rather than task-optimized.
