PhysX is NVIDIA's real-time physics engine SDK for game, simulation, and robotics development.
PhysX is a scalable real-time physics engine that simulates rigid-body dynamics, soft bodies, cloth, fluids, and destruction, distributed as a software development kit under a permissive open-source licence. The technology originated as the NovodeX engine, passed to Ageia in 2004 and to NVIDIA in 2008, after which the PhysX SDK was made freely available to developers and later fully open-sourced.
NVIDIA positions PhysX as the primary physics engine of its Omniverse platform, with releases serving game engines, robotics and autonomous-vehicle simulation, and AI training workflows that require large-scale parallel physics. The SDK ships CPU and GPU-accelerated simulation components and is integrated into major development environments used by studios and research teams.
