Project AirSim is IAMAI's open-source high-fidelity simulator for building and testing autonomous aircraft and robotic systems.
Project AirSim descends from Microsoft Research's AirSim lineage: after Microsoft archived the original AirSim simulator and ended its own Project AirSim program, IAMAI published and now maintains the open-source Project AirSim repository. The simulator provides virtual environments with vehicle, physics, and sensor models for developing and evaluating autonomous systems before field deployment, spanning aerial vehicles as well as mixed unmanned ground and air fleets.
The project is distributed under an open-source license on GitHub, where IAMAI publishes builds, documentation, and integration examples covering workflows such as ROS-based control, synthetic data generation, and multi-vehicle simulation. IAMAI positions the simulator as the community successor to Microsoft AirSim, and Microsoft's archival notice for the original project points users to the IAMAI-maintained codebase.
