Isaac Sim is a physics-based robotics simulator from NVIDIA that runs on the Omniverse Kit framework and uses OpenUSD as its scene description format. Robot developers, researchers, and industrial engineering teams use it to design, validate, and train autonomous systems before deploying them on physical hardware, covering use cases that range from warehouse and factory automation to mobile and humanoid robot research.
The platform combines GPU-accelerated physics with RTX sensor rendering, imports robots and environments from formats such as URDF, MJCF, and CAD, and provides bridge extensions for connecting simulations to ROS and ROS 2. Its tooling spans synthetic data generation, reinforcement and imitation learning through the companion Isaac Lab framework, and digital-twin workflows. NVIDIA distributes Isaac Sim as free, Apache-2.0-licensed open source on GitHub, with general availability of the 5.0 generation announced at SIGGRAPH 2025 and continued releases through the 6.x line.

Isaac Sim is NVIDIA's OpenUSD-based robotics simulation application, built on Omniverse, for developing, testing, and training AI-driven robots.
