RudderStack operates a customer data platform organized around collecting, unifying, activating, and governing customer event data. Event collection runs through SDKs for web, mobile, and server-side sources alongside webhook and cloud event sources, with in-flight transformations for cleaning, enrichment, and masking sensitive fields. Identity resolution and profile building take place inside the customer's own data warehouse, producing customer 360 tables that feed more than two hundred pre-built destination integrations and reverse ETL connections.
The platform is delivered both as a managed cloud service and as a self-hosted open-source edition released under the Elastic 2.0 license, with the core data processing layer shared across editions. Its architecture is warehouse-first, so customer event data does not reside in a vendor-managed silo. More recent releases add agentic capabilities including infrastructure-as-code workflows, an MCP interface, natural-language audience building, and AI-assisted tracking plan generation and debugging.
Transformations is RudderStack's in-flight event transformation product, modifying event data between collection and delivery with JavaScript or Python.
