Overview

Dragon is a free-flying spacecraft developed by SpaceX for cargo delivery to the International Space Station and crewed spaceflight under NASA's Commercial Crew Program. The vehicle carries pressurized and unpressurized cargo to orbit and returns scientific experiments and hardware to Earth via ocean splashdown.

Crew Dragon variants transport astronauts to the ISS and support commercial human spaceflight missions. The spacecraft features an autonomous docking system, launch escape capabilities, and a reusable heat shield. Dragon has completed dozens of operational missions and was the first privately developed vehicle to carry humans to orbit.
