Community Grant Program

The Community Grant Program is the open grantmaking pathway of the ARH Foundation for Healthier Communities, the fundraising foundation of Appalachian Regional Healthcare. The foundation accepts applications on a continuing basis from tax-exempt nonprofit organizations and governmental agencies serving Eastern Kentucky and Southern West Virginia, and grants do not exceed $5,000.

Funded projects must present a sound plan to increase the health and wellbeing of a community in the ARH service region, with specific and measurable goals and an emphasis on coordination among organizations to prevent duplication of services. The program funds work in health education, health outcomes, and human services, including food and nutrition, housing and shelter, public safety, and disaster relief, while excluding capital campaigns, debt retirement, political activity, and sponsorships. Agencies submit one application per year, and prior recipients wait five years to reapply.
