Healthy Communities Initiative

Healthy Communities Initiative is the annual competitive grant program of the Pallottine Foundation of Huntington, open to nonprofit organizations serving the foundation's 20-county Tri-State region of West Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky. Grants fund health-related programming that addresses behavioral, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual needs in the community, together with projects that improve the internal capacity of applicant nonprofits, and awards run up to $40,000, with a simplified application pathway for requests of $7,500 or less.

The program operates on an annual cycle, with the 2026 round closing on February 24, 2026 and the next cycle opening in January 2027. The 2025 competition produced 164 grants totaling more than $2.5 million, and the June 2026 awards directed $2.5 million to 172 nonprofit and community organizations across the region, with funding concentrated in health and wellness, mental and behavioral health, substance use disorder, and tobacco use prevention and cessation.
