Black Farmer Fund

Black Farmer Fund operates a combined loan-and-gift fund serving farmers and food entrepreneurs across the Northeast. Its loans and gifts support start-up, operational, and capacity-building purposes. The organization emerged from discussions among Black farmers in the Northeast who sought capital that would not reproduce lending practices that were discriminatory and predatory.

Its support also reaches herbalists, restaurant owners, caterers, food distributors, and other food-related entrepreneurs. Black Farmer Fund collaborates with mission-aligned organizations in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
