The Eucentre Bearing Test System tests full-scale seismic isolation and dissipation devices under multi-directional static and dynamic loads.
The Bearing Test System (BTS) is an experimental infrastructure operating at the Eucentre Foundation laboratories in Pavia. It performs tests on full-scale seismic isolation and dissipation devices, applying static and dynamic loads with five controlled degrees of freedom covering vertical and longitudinal translations and roll, pitch, and yaw rotations, extendable to six in an optional configuration.
Its capacity includes a maximum static vertical load of 40,000 kN, an additional dynamic vertical load of 10,000 kN, horizontal forces up to 2,000 kN, and horizontal displacement of 480 mm either side of centre. The system validates numerical models used to predict seismic response, tests devices such as elastomeric and curved-surface sliding isolators and viscous dampers, and feeds experimental data into technical standards. It has been used in European collaborations including SERA and with NHERI in the United States.

Dynamic Isolation Systems' Base Isolators decouple structures from earthquake ground motion for protection of buildings and bridges.

The Politecnico di Milano LPMSC laboratory tests, assesses, and certifies structural bearings, expansion joints, and anti-seismic devices for CE marking.

The ELSA reaction wall at JRC Ispra tests full-scale structures for seismic safety assessment using pseudo-dynamic methods.
