Go is an open-source programming language supported by Google. Work on the language began at Google in 2007, and it was publicly released as an open-source project in November 2009. The language provides built-in concurrency and a standard library, and the project maintains source-level compatibility across its Go 1.x release line.

Go's primary use cases are cloud and network services, command-line interfaces, web development, and DevOps and site reliability engineering. Google uses Go in production for systems including Search indexing and site-reliability tooling, and companies including PayPal, American Express, Mercado Libre, Dropbox, Cloudflare, Netflix, Uber, Microsoft, Salesforce, and Twitch also use the language. The go.dev site provides documentation, an interactive tour, tutorials, and downloads for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
