aVenture has one account for everything: the website, the iPhone, iPad, and Mac apps, the API, the aventure CLI, and the MCP server for AI assistants. Every one of them draws on the same plan allowances. This post explains what each plan includes, what counts against an allowance, and what happens when you run out.

New AI Pro subscribers can pay $588 for their first year on the annual plan, then $1,999 a year after that. Teams that need custom reports, a CRM integration, or a dedicated analyst can ask about Expert, which is priced per engagement.

Start free with just an email
Essential needs only an email address and a one-time code. No card is required until you choose a paid plan. Essential reads company and person profiles, funding history, and contact data, and it works on every surface, including the CLI and the MCP server.
On the website, AI search is open to everyone, signed in or not. What Essential does not include is the AI layer in the API, CLI, and MCP server: plain-English search ("seed-stage climate software companies in Austin") and looking up a company or person by name there need AI Plus or AI Pro, as do research requests. A name that exactly matches a record's slug or handle still resolves on every plan. On the free plan you can still go straight to a company by its website: aventure entities lookup-exact get --url https://stripe.com works on every plan.
What counts against an allowance
- Profile views count once per record per calendar month (UTC). Opening the same company or person again that month is free.
- Brand lookups count once per company per month, on their own allowance. Company brand lookup returns a company's names, logos, links, and tags.
- Web searches count once each.
- Research requests count once per company or person you send for research. Research updates explains what a run does.
- AI credits pay for messages to the research agent.
- Plain-English searches have no monthly allowance. They are rate-limited per account instead, so a burst of searches waits a moment rather than using up your plan.
Company and person views, brand lookups, research requests, and web searches reset at the start of each calendar month (UTC). AI credits reset on Researchly's billing period. Your settings page shows each one as a meter:

When you reach a limit
Without additional usage, a request past an allowance stops with a message that names the limit you reached and how to raise it. In the API, that is a 429 with the code billing_allowance_exhausted.
On AI Plus and AI Pro you can turn on additional usage in your subscription settings, so requests continue past the allowance at these prices:
| Usage | Price past the allowance |
|---|---|
| Company research request | $2.50 |
| Person research request | $0.65 |
| Company or person profile view | $0.025 |
| Web search | $0.025 |
| Company brand lookup | $0.001 |
| AI credit | $0.35 |
You choose how to pay for it. Buy a prepaid credit pack of $25, $50, $100, or $250, and usage stops when the credit runs out. Or set a monthly spending cap and get invoiced as you cross each increment you choose. Either way, usage never runs past a limit you set.
Change plans from wherever you work
- Website: subscription settings shows your plan, your usage, and every plan you can move to.
- CLI:
aventure billing plans listlists plans with monthly and annual prices, andaventure billing plan-changes create --plan <plan>changes a paid plan using the card on file. - AI assistants: ask Claude or ChatGPT, connected through the MCP server, to list aVenture plans or upgrade you.
- iPhone, iPad, and Mac: the aVenture Research apps sell AI Plus and AI Pro as monthly App Store subscriptions, managed in your Apple subscription settings.
An upgrade takes effect right away, and you pay a prorated amount for the rest of the period. A downgrade, including a switch from yearly to monthly billing, takes effect when your current period ends. Changed your mind before then? Choose your current plan again to cancel the scheduled change.
Using the data in your own product
Every plan can show aVenture results inside a website, app, or AI assistant you run, as long as results pass through live or from a cache of up to 24 hours and credit aVenture. What you can build with aVenture data explains those terms in plain English.
